So, I was given an HP monitor- name listed above- last night. Naturally, I want to try it out. I'm running an HDMI to DVI cord to it from my PS3, so I plug the HDMI end into my PS3, and the DVI end into the monitor. I turn the PS3 on, and the monitor simply reads "Check Display Cable". But I know for a fact that the cable isn't a problem, and all of the settings from my PS3 are just fine; the same cable was just working on a different monitor.
I go through all of the menu on the monitor, and make sure I'm on the right input, but the message stays the same. I try the auto-detect, and the message stays the same.
SO, being the idiot that I am, I try different button combinations on the front of the monitor. Nothing was happening until I pressed the + source channel and - source channel buttons simultaneously. That was a tremendous mistake. After pushing those two buttons, the screen went completely black, which I thought was a good sign. However, a couple of seconds later, I was met with a solid bright red display. About a second later, it turned green, then blue, then black, and then white, and back to red and repeated the cycle. I cannot bring up the menu to stop this. None of the buttons on the front of the monitor work aside from the power button, and pressing the + and - source channel buttons simply change the screen black until I let go of them, and then it starts the process over again. I don't know if this is a hardware error, or if I'm simply not doing anything right. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Solution
I'd try unplugging the monitor from the wall and the PS3, then press the power button for about thirty seconds. Wait about five minutes and reconnect and try the monitor again. You might also try to unlock the OSD by pressing and holding the power button down while it's plugged into power and the PS3 until the screen comes back. Might just be a bad unit, and that is the most likely problem. Maybe try connecting it to a computer to see if it's the same result.

Thanks so much! Plugged my desktop into it, and it's working just fine!
