Choosing an OS

Hi, not sure if there was a better place to ask this, so I'll try in the Windows 8 forum.

I am doing major upgrading to my current PC. MB, memory, GPU... along with that a new SSD.
I use Windows 7, but I am not against changing.

For someone who does Photoshop (and other photo editing), and some gaming (BF4, FC3, etc)...
is there anything in Windows 8.1 that would benefit me?

I have read about higher FPS in games like Battlefield 4... but then I've read about slower speeds on SSDs, etc.

There is a good chance none of that would be noticeable to me, and it would simply come down to my preference of an OS.... but.... if anyone has any input or advice, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

The major parts of my system, in case anyone were to ask:
MB: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Memory: 16GB G Skill 1600 MHz
GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon 9770 3GB
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro

Solution
win 7 64 bit is just fine you dont have to change that i have not seen any added benefit of using win 8 in gaming or Photoshop i play a lot of game myself and also do some editing in cs6.

Thanks both of you.

I think the interface, while I wasn't a fan of the original Win8, is still something I can get used to.
If there have been performance improvements like I have read about, then it interests me.

But other things I've read, like the numerous people who had mouse responsiveness issues in games when they upgraded, leading Microsoft to release multiple updates to try and fix it, have me a bit concerned.

I don't want to sacrifice anything in my gaming, since that and PS are why I upgraded.

My other option is to not pay to upgrade to Win8.1... and just wait until Win10 next year.
