I am considering either the LG 34" Ultrawide 1440p monitor versus a 65" 1080p.

I plan to use it to play game like shadow of mordor, evil within, tomb raider, skyrim, etc

I use wireless mouse, keyboard, head phones. I am looking for immersion.

My current monitor is a Asus VG278h 27" 3d vision monitor. I plan to still use this for MSoffice and 3d movies.

I plan to buy a GTX970 to run this. My CPU is i5 2500k

Let me know what u guys think! I also don't own a TV and the screen will be in my room

Solution
No, that is an incorrect generalization.

A wider display ratio means you can see wider.
Whe switched from 4:3 to 16:9 to have widescreen (a wider field of view). By going up even further to 21:9 you will have an even wider field of view (assuming game supports it).

Higher resolution is also better then bigger screen with lower resolution.
Have you ever watch an old old big screen tv before high definition? You coulld physically see the circles of the pixels.

Solution
even the best panasonic z series plasma is going to have a real tough time matching the near exacting color reproduction of a 1440p ips computer monitor. plain and simple home televisions are not designed for this. and the nicest lcd hdtv is still going to have input lag, ghosting, and other effects that the 1440p monitor will not. hdtvs will also not display fine print very good.

ips 1440p monitors idealy are not the "best" at gaming, yet. for hardcore gamers who play first person shooter games like battlefield 4 at the competitive level, they want a tn based panel that has an extremely low response time with a high refresh, but at the cost of worse color reproduction and off angle viewing. ips monitors like the lg 34 are not quite as good as "hardcore gaming" monitors, but they are usually more than good enough for the average gamer.

i have a 27" ips 1440p monitor and i have no problem playing bf4 or other games.

but 1440p strobbed backlight ips gsync 120/144hz monitors are on their way soon.

No you just sit futher away, which is more comfortable on the eyes. For immersion you need wider aspect such as
3 monitors.

Yes it's stupid to play on a console.
