I stupidly ordered this power supply not realizing that it limits my graphics card, any how whats the best i can run.

things to bear in mind are
amps on 12v rail are 34
only have one 6+2 pin connector
my budget is 150 pounds

A 760 requires two six pin power connectors and a 550 watt power supply, A 970 requires a 500 watt power supply and two six pin connectors. A 750 ti requires only a 300 watt power supply and doesn't need any six pin connectors. You could either get that now, or wait to see what the 900 series equivelent will be in that same range in maybe a 950 when it comes out.

A 760 GTX requires a 500w power supply minimum and two 6 pin power connectors, so I would say "No". The 660 performs better than the 750 ti. The 660 GTX only requires on 6-pin power connector and requires a 450w power supply. Sounds like a perfect match!

While a 750 ti is more power efficient than a GTX 660, I would still think performance of the GTX 660 is faster than the GTX 750 ti. Personally if I had to choose the perfect graphics card for a 450w power supply, I would pick the GTX 660 and not look back.

An even better option is a GTX 660 ti. A GTX 660 ti is basically 5-10% better than the 660 non-ti. They probably are cheaper now and only need a 450w power supply as well. The card will need two six pin connectors, but often the card comes with an adapter that you can convert a 4 pin molex from your power supply into a 6 pin connector that can connect right into your graphics card. So personally, I change my answer to be the GTX 660 ti as the ultimate card to balance your 450w power supply.

Cheers!

If the 260X that I brought up earlier in the conversation needed 2 six pin power connectors and over a 500w power supply, then a 270 will need even more power than the 260X did since it is an even stronger card than the 260X is.

I would say that its almost as important, if not more, the A the +12v rail you psu has. Some cards seem to have high wattage spikes that may give troubles if its a PSU with 16A in the +12v rail.

You have to understand that card manufactures try to "save their asses" with those Wattage minimun requirements. In my opinion, not expert, I would say that if your +12v can give 380Watts you are going to be ok with a 760 or even better. But its true that its a bit risky cause it depends a lot with cpu + peripherals consumption and spikes.

Also you cant OC when you are so close to the edge.

Well to be perfectly honest i think my safest bet would be to get an r9 270, since in a few years time i will be upgrading to 4k eg gpu psu monitor.

so will the 270 run games at high on my 1680 1050 monitor.

The 270 will run games very well at 1680x1050. Some Max and some med to high. Depends on games and settings.
