Is it possible that my GPU and monitor are out of sync

and causing tears on objects in my games?

I updated my drivers (AMD) and got what at the time I was calling jaggies. But now I'm starting to think what I'm seeing is tears along the lines of buildings, flag poles and character models.

GPU: r280x (not hardware issue)
Drivers: Uptoday (clean installed with uninstall display driver)
Monitor: Asus 248qe 144 hrz
Resolution: (as all ways) 1920x1080p 144hrz

Vsync is off (like all ways)

After driver update, character models, lines on roofs, flags, edges of items/lines "roll" as I move around.

If this isn't a "jaggy" anti-aliasning issue, and more of a tearing issue. Why? I understand a bad install could cause some issues, but I've done several clean display driver uninstalls and installs.

thoughts? suggestions?

If the 'new" drivers are bad then why is it when I reverted back to my old drivers that worked fine (after a clean uninstall) I still had the issue?

If you aren't using V-sync, you are simply not synced with the monitor. That is the case for all video cards and PC gaming. It is not a driver issue. It is an inherent gaming issue, and why V-sync, G-sync and soon to be Freesync was made.

But when I use Vsync and triple buffering... my flicker/jaggy remains.

anything else?

Flickering and jaggies are another issue. Not a sync issue.

Jaggies are fixed with AA. And if the flickering you are talking about, are the jaggies flickering mildly then that too may be fixed with AA, but if the whole screen flickers, you may have overheating, driver or hardware issues.

The whole screen doesn't flicker, I have very smooth FPS.

What I have is like the roof of a building or the outline of a flag on a flag pole "rolling" as I'm walking toward it. When I get close it's smooth but @ a distance is rolls "flows" like it's moving till I get close enough and it smooths out.

Here is a video example of my issue.

You can see the tops of the buildings, rows of fields and the fences "rolling". If you can see it in HD you'll see the tops of the buildings, farms and the fences roll as I fly toward them and they smooth out when I get close. This all started after I updated my drivers back in June/July.

Any advice is very welcome.

That is an AA issue. The problem is that more and more games do not support the AA methods that fix those issues the most. Also, the very best methods are often very demanding.

Anyways, around objects, MSAA is one of the best forms of AA. To fix textures, and foliage issues, SSAA is the best.

Newer games are supporting less of the good AA methods, and leaving us with things like post processing AA, such as FXAA and MLAA, which are not nearly as good. Apparently SMAA isn't bad.

If nothing you do in game helps, you can download some AA injectors to help, or use downsampling. Downsampling is possibly the easiest, at least with Nvidia. Read this for how to use it: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2252699&highlight=

I know all about AA and AA methods.

It's very strange that after I updated my drivers I then had these AA issues.

Everything was set to default. All ways had been.

That is my point, it's like there is a setting some where that isn't given me my true AA that I had before.
