Looking for a headset around £80

I've been looking around for a decent gaming headset that has good microphone and audio quality that can provide the direction of a sound. I've looked at other threads and seen the Steelseries Siberia V2 mentioned which has very good reviews, the Logitech G430 and G230 which don't have as good reviews, and also the idea to buy the headphones and microphone separately.
In addition, if I was to get a headset with surround sound would getting a sound card improve the quality? If so, what sort of card could I get whilst still staying within my budget?
I have a budget of around £80. I'm open to all ideas!

Not true... The sound card on my motherboard is not very good at all.

what motherboard do you have?
It's probably either not new, low end, or not working properly

Do you own this headset? If so, how do they perform after owning them for an extended period of time?
Thanks

I suggest the Steelseries Siberia V3. They're like an updated version of the 5HV3, more expensive, but much more comfortable, and the sound is noticeably better. Whether that's worth it to you or not is your choice, but it is definitely worth it to me. They are also USB, which means you don't need to worry about onboard sound. Most of the time a $100 headset won't be noticeably limited by your onboard sound, but on a few motherboards, it will make a difference. It also has surround which will be useful in FPS games.

Just when I thought I was getting somewhere.. ;) Earlier today I discovered the Kingston HyperX Cloud headset which seems to be the best headset so far, all the reviews are very good. The Siberia V3 is also quite a bit more than the HyperX headset so it's not as appealing, price is always a big factor with me.
Thanks for the reply.

The V2 is a good option, just not as new as the V3. The HyperX doesn't have great sound quality and the build quality is average, so it's a good headset, but doesn't really excel in other things like the Siberia V2/V3. The new Steelseries Prism Raw is another good option.

Have you used the Kingstons? I've seen it mentioned that the sound quality improved vastly when used with a gaming motherboard or an amp that can provide it with enough power.

I think I'll wait for more reviews for the Siberia V3 to surface then I'll decide on whether they are worth the extra money.
Thanks for all your input!
