Want to overclock the 4790k to 4.4 ghz I think I just need to up the voltage and the multiplier to 44 the cpu is water cooled

Solution

The i7-4790k already boosts up to 4.4Ghz stock... so you really arn't doing any overclocking - stock voltage will be fine.

http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz

Note: Max Turbo Frequency 4.4 GHz

You may be able to lower the voltage that it runs at and keep it stable at those speeds... try 1.2 volts and work your way down.

Yup if you want to overclock it, i'd leave voltages at stock and push the multiplier till it is no longer stable then either leave it at the last stable clock rate or bump the voltage up slightly... whatever you do don't go over 1.4 volts... I'd keep it at 1.3 or lower myself.

I've got evga 850 gold series psu. 2 evga superclocked 970's 8 gig of 1866 ram. Z97 gryphon mobo. H100 lq water cooler also. I just want to push the cpu a little harder. Right now it's running only at like 42 degrees on load playing bf4 I just would like to know a simple way to tweak the cpu for a little more performance
