Acer Aspire9300 I lost wireless

There is a button on the keyboard for wireless on/off. Worked fine for 6 years and now no longer does. Have not dropped or mishandles the unit, any ideas as to cause. Will a usb wireless solution get around this?

simple answer is yes as it is not connected to the motherboard and preinstalled options from vendor. It should come with it's own utility program and all. I will ask what OS as you said it is 6 years old and you may have a time finding one that is compatible depending on the OS
