Hi, I just did some test with MSI afterburner and Kombustor and notice my memory clock is running at 5Ghz while being a bit OC. I don't know what prevent my GPU to run as fast as it should be.

my gig:
Mobo: gigabyte ga-z68xp-ud5
cpu: intel i7-2600k @3.4ghz
gpu: gtx 970
ram: 2x hyperx 4gb @668.5mhz

Solution
Update:
I saw a picture of Afterburner for GTX970 and it showed the "Memory Clock" scale going from 0 to 5000MHz. That was the scale, the memory would be below that.

On GPU-Z it showed the memory default frequency as 1753MHz suggesting you'd need to multiply that number by 4X.

*I suspect it's possible that an UPDATE to the software is needed to report correctly.
Your video memory speed should be somewhere between 7GHz and 8GHz.

I doubt you have a problem, but I don't have that card to test.

Note that the GPU gets its data from video memory and if you can run it at a proper frequency (i.e. 1200MHz+) then your video memory couldn't be running at 5GHz because it would have bottlenecked the GPU.

*Is it possible your GPU isn't being fully stressed so the video memory doesn't need to run faster than 5000MHz?
