Need advice for upgrading cpu

Hello guys,
I have a plan to upgrade my dual core cpu to a quad core. My current build are :
AMD A-6 5400K 3,8Ghz
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 board
460W Cooler Master PSU
HIS HD7790
2x2gb ram (upgrade soon to 2x4gb)

Also, i can't afford a new motherboard, so i need FM2 cpu. Is AMD Athlon X4 760K good enough?
And will it holdback my gpu?

It is the fastest processor you can get for that board. Yes, with the right gfx card, it will run any game at max or near max settings at 1080p or lower resolution. Be sure to update your MB BIOS first though. It will out pace your current gfx card. In fact, if you are having frame rate issues, it may be your card.
