Hi guys. My friend is building a gaming PC from scratch, and it's his first time building. I've built my a gaming PC on my own once before, and helped him as much as I could, but I'm by no means an expert. He asked me to post his build here for him and ask you guys if you spotted any problems or had any improvements/recommendations on his build.

Some other general info:

He plans on overclocking his CPU.

He plans on purchasing within the next few days if possible.

He would like to stay under $2,000 for the entire system, but that's not a hard limit.

He's thinking about buying a 26-inch monitor, and having it serve as the TV for his room as well. He's still undecided about that, leaning towards no. Regardless, he needs to purchase a monitor since he doesn't have one currently. He is planning on getting a 1920x1080 res monitor at the moment.

No SLI/Crossfire.

Plans on using Windows 7, which he already owns.

The main reason for the new machine is that his old laptop is dying out, but he was planning on upgrading for gaming purposes before it started to die on him.

And here is the build:

In addition to any general advice you guys could give, I'm curious if 8 GB of RAM is going to be sufficient for running topflight games on max settings (as is his goal). I'm assuming the video RAM in his graphics card is the more important factor, but 8 GB RAM on a system this expensive seems a bit low to me. Am I off here? He says he's open to going up to 16 GB if it will make a noticeable difference in performance.

As always, thanks a bunch guys and looking forward to hear from you.
