Hey there. I'm thinking of upgrading my AMD Athlon X2 370k dual-core 4.0ghz to an AMD A10-5800k Quad-core 3.8ghz due to GPU bottlenecking issue. How much of a difference it in terms of gaming and FPS? And would it still bottleneck the GPU?

Here are my specs:
- Asus A88x-Pro FM2+
- Sapphire HD 7950 3gb
- AMD Athlon X2 370k 4.0ghz
- Windows 8.1
- 500gb Hard Drive
- 600w Power Supply

Thanks in advance.

no. that a10 igpu is vilw5 architecture while your 7950 is gcn architecture. you could save a couple bucks and get the 760k/860k, but i still think having the igpu built into the 5800k is worth it in case you want a second monitor powered by the cpu, your graphic card dies and you still need to output to a monitor for basic computer work, or down the road you sell you graphics card but retire the computer rig to other use.

you could go 7850k and im not sure if it would crossfire, but it wouldn't be worth the it as you might gain a few fps but at the cost of big cpu temp jumps.

Thanks for your response. Another question: Since the A10-5800k is an APU, does that mean that I can crossfire my HD 7950 with the integrated graphics? Would it be a good idea to do so?
