Im going to be installing a 250gb ssd into my new build with the addition of a 1tb hdd. i read a lot that people install the OS to the ssd and try to move what they can to the hdd, one of them being the user folders. how do i go about moving the users folder so that all my downloads and music, etc goes to my hdd instead?

also (this pertains to the installation of the os) i hear its a good idea to get rid of hibernation? how do i do that? will it be an option?

thanks for answering my questions, this is my first build.

Hey there, Andrew1135!

Yes, the preferred and recommended way when installing a new SSD is performing a fresh install of the OS.
This way you won't have to deal with your old redundant system files.
As for any other data/files you can use a cloning software like Acronis True Image ( http://www.acronis.com/en-us/ ) to transfer all important to you data from your old drive and then format it for use as a secondary storage. Or you can simply copy and paste all your downloads and music.

After you install the OS, the default folder for all the downloads will be on the SSD, indeed. You can change that when you open Computer and right-click on the 'Downloads' folder in the left pane and select properties. You will find a 'Location' tab where you can browse the desired new location with the 'Move' button.

You can get rid of hibernate mode in several different ways.
One is by opening the power options from the Control panel and select Advanced settings where you can change the Hibernate setting to Never.
The other way to do that is by opening the Command prompt (cmd) and typing this command: powercfg -h off
Afterwards you can check the Power Options and make sure the critical/low battery action are not set to Hibernate.

Here's a link with several other ways how to turn off the Hibernate mode:

Hope this helped you! :)

Simply changing the library default locations by right clicking them in the left window in the file explorer will do that. By default they go to the C: drive but you can delete that and point it toward whatever drive you want.
