Hi, this my build
MSI X99S Gaming 7
Intel Core i7-5820K
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133
MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G
CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3
WD BLACK SERIES WD1003FZEX 1TB 7200 RPM
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cooler Master Seidon 120V

Alright so i tried a test boot before i put it in the case. It went to the bios and everything was fine, so i unplugged everything and start installing it into the case. So after everything was installed it doesn't post the led screen says d6 for about 20 seconds then goes to CPU temps. So i googled all the errors for d6 nothing has helped. The only thing i can think of is that the CPU pins are bent or theres thermal paste on them. Because when i installed the water cooler i put a bit to much thermal paste on there but i took off the water cooler and checked the pins i didnt see anything bent so i re-installed it wiped off some extra paste and still nothing. eveything works all the fans are spinning the light on the drives are on and the water cooler is working i have no idea what to do.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Update your bios. I had a similar issue. Had the new ivy bridge CPU, installed it into a board that 'supported it' but had the old bios version. Nothing posted to the screen, all lights, fans and everything came on but couldnt get it to work. updated bios and we were sorted.

Thanks for the response the only problem is that i have no idea how to do that all the tutorials online you have to be in the bios to update it.

Sorry for the delayed response.

You'll have to get an older version of a 1155 CPU and update it that way. If you havent got one, you can take it to a PC specialist shop and they will do it for about £10-15. Make sure you go to a specialist and not a large chain like PC world or some shit, they will just end up breaking something else.
