Hi guys

I am a university student who works with a large company as part of a doctorate. They have provided me with a company laptop. Being a large company they have a lot of specific settings so can't really start messing about without it as I'll get a rather large wrist slap, but basically it won't connect to my university network.

I find this odd as it connects perfectly fine to my wireless network at home. It has been suggested to me that as the uni network doesn't have wep protection something on the laptop may be recognising as an unsecure network. It recognises the networks, but basically instantly rejects the network when I try to connect.

There's an unpassworded setup network and the actual network that uses an IVPN. As the first network didn't connect I downloaded the IVPN on a different laptop and installed, but couldn't get the other network to work either.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is or knows a way to bypass this so I can connect?

Thanks

James

Talk to the company's IT department, since they provided it to you (and that will avoid any wrist slapping).

Although I'd be worried about a university that doesn't even use WEP encryption for its WI-FI, let alone something stronger like WPA/WPA2.
