Can i change my download and upload speeds on my router for better download speeds and uploading speeds

I would like to known if i can change my routers speeds to get my maximum download and upload speeds please. I am with Telstra on a ADSL 2+ bundle with a TD-W8970 router- http://www.tp-link.com.au/products/details/?model=TD-W8970. My current speeds are 2mps download and 1mps upload

No you're speeds are governed by the package you're on and the distance from the exchange. You cannot increase your speeds via the router.
