Gtx 770 vs r9 290

I am hesitating between these two cards which should I get?
(Before people start saying the 770 is better value for money they are the same price at the moment on amazon)

The R9 290 is a great card , for $280 it surely can't be beaten .

The GTX 970 is a great card but its currently out of stock at most places and most cards are more expensive than the 290 by 60 bucks at least. So if your PSU supports the 290 and can handle it then surely it's a great choice.

The GTX 770 WAS better value for money, right now R9 280X and R9 290 are great value cards(recent price drops due to Nvidia Maxwell architecture cards being released and really powerful. If your power supply supports it get the R9 290. Though If I were you I'd save a couple of money and get the GTX 970. I was about to go for the 290 myself and I waited for a couple of weeks and got the GTX 970. Much better performance and value compared to the 770 and quite comparable to the R9 290. Also it's very power efficient which means you can basically run it easily if you have a good quality 550 Watt PSU.
