Hey,
I just bought the Msi z97 Gaming 3 Mobo, and everything works fine exept some most likely ram problems that i would like to solve.
the problem: I now have 2 crucial tactical tracer 4Gb DDR3-1866 ram chips in, and everything works fine, but when i plug in another ram chip (Hyper x 4Gb DDr3-1866) the computer starts up, fans are spinning and everything seems okey, but the screens stay black. So im thinking that it could be a compatability problem, but since the ram chips basicly are the same i cant immagine why. can anyone help me with this problem?
Thanks.

Specs:
Msi z97 Gaming 3
Intel Core i5 4690
Nvidia geforce Gtx 690
crucial tactical tracer 4Gb DDR3-1866 x2
Samsung HD 103Si
Intel SSD
Corsair cx750m

Solution
They are usually compatible with the MoBo, but not with each other. There's no hard and fast rule, unless you get the exactly identical stick, it's more of a gamble.
This indeed is a compatibility issue, the difference in two factory paired sticks and two individually paired sticks is that the factory ones are tested and garuanteed to run with each other, there's no such garuantee with individual ones. So you can't be sure that even two exactly same models from the same brand will run fine, let alone different brands (which's your case).

Have you tried putting them in different slots?

Hey Thymas quick question i see you are or were running the GTX 690 with the MSI Gamine 3 Motherboard. Since the board doesnt support SLI only Crossfire. Does the GTX 690 Still run as a Duel GPU Card or is it downgraded to a single gpu?
