Hey guys im going to buy a gaming laptop,

Max resolution 1080p , Ultra settings, Always V-Sync and max anti-alias.

I will also emulate dolphin( not max) .

So i want to buy the (on a budget so im just getting 2x4gb ram and no hdd)
(also selling my 560ti + i5 2550k) desktop to aford it, but if the 4710mq is crap i will continue to save and work more XD)

17,3 inch Clevo P375SM-A

But all over the internet the i7 4710MQ (quad core) is 265 Euro-ish
And that is still 100-200 euro cheaper than the i5 dual core and i7 4810MQ.

So i'm wondering if it will bottleneck the 970m in SLI or a single 980m

Here is a link to the laptop:

Best regards,

4710 bottlenecks 880M SLI very slightly, so it will bottleneck 970Ms slightly as well. a 4810 / 4870 would eliminate it, but the bottleneck is only around 5-10%. and quite frankly you won't notice the difference or need it with a 970M SLI setup - you should be getting 100+FPS on most games.

i7 4710MQ is a good laptop CPU.There should be no problems. And get the 970M SLI. It is great and better than the 980M.
On the same abit lowered, adjusted settings(Not on highest setting) in some games the 970M SLI even beat the GTX 980.

Hey thank you for your reply.

I see on cpuboss.com that the i7 4710MQ has 0.1 rating point less than the 2550k desktop that i have now.
Since i do not own a GPU to strain the maximum of my CPU (exept in dolphin) i was wondering if you know of any
Games or things you cannot do with the 4710MQ.

I will get the 970SLI the 980SLI is also too pricey, but i dont want to run into any CPU problems in the next few years, hence the questions.

Don't use cpuboss to judge a CPU. Not a good comparison/benchmark site. The i7 4710MQ is of Haswell architecture. So a good comparison would be of the desktop i7 4770T, 4770, 4770K, etc. It's an i7, Quad-Core (HT), 2.5GHz and boost up to 3.5GHz (3.3GHz on all 4 Cores). Honestly I can't think of any game that would struggle on an i7 processor 2nd Gen and up.

In my opinion just stick with the 4710MQ. If I were in your shoes the only CPUs I would pay more money for would be the 4940MX, 4980HQ and the reason is because the CPUs are 3GHz to begin with and can boost nearly to 4GHz on all cores.
