I am working on a inspiron 10 mini. The laptop was working fine until the battery died and then I realized it was not charging. I started checking for voltages. The charger itself is working fine with 12VDC. The DC jack in the laptop is working fine, and the wires connecting the jack to the motherboard are working fine. I also have 12VDC when the jack plugs into the motherboard. I have no voltage however at the charging pins for the battery. Also it will not power on at all even when it is plugged in. I tested continuity and the grounds are all good but there is no continuity from the hot wire to any of the charging pins. Any ideas what I could check? Also, could I just solder a jumper from the charging port to whatver pin charges the battery?

Check the motherboard model and search for schematics. I expect the charging circuitry is a little more complicated than a wire from +12V to the battery, and bypassing it will probably at best not work and at worst fry something.
