Windows 7 gets stuck while copying files

I have an external HDD. I wanted to copy a 1 GB AVI file, BUT it gets stuck on the "5 seconds remaining" mark. When I copy smaller files, it's OK. But when I copy bigger files, it gets stuck on 5 sec. Any help?

Sometimes windows shows the file to be almost done and then it hangs for a few mins. I think windows doesn't report the speed and time correctly sometimes, and usually you have to wait for the actual transfer to catch up. The bigger the file the longer you may have to wait.

Possibly... But when I copied multiple files in total of 12 GB, it didn't hang nor lag. So that is probably it...
