To start this out, my PSU gave out on me about 2 months ago, I bought the computer back in 08, its a gateway (I know) dx4300, I purchased a replacement from cputopia, the psu I ordered was supposed to be a replacement of the one I had, minus it was a 550w power supply and my old one was 400w. I installed it, for the first few days it started fine, stayed on til I turned the computer off, then a few days later I tried to turn the computer on, the fans would start up, but no lights, no mobo been, nothing. I unplugged it from my power strip and plugged it into the wall, started up fine, and for a few weeks I worked fine, however I had to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it on instead of just pressing it. But now for the past month, my computer runs for exactly an hour and shuts off, it starts right up again (after holding the power button down for a few seconds) but then exactly an hour later it shutdown. It does the whole computer shutting down ritual and doesnt just lose power. I thought maybe it was over heating, so I was checking the temps and everything seemed mostly normal, but a little on the warmer side. I just replaced the thermal paste, started the computer up, and then this time I just had my computer on speccy to watch temps, watched the clock so I would look at my computer about the time it always shuts down, and my temps were all around 37-39 c aside from my gfx card that was sitting around 46. I'd really like to think my mobo isn't going out too, as this all started after I installed the new PSU. (Wishful thinking) I emailed CPUtopia with the problem I was having and they said it doesn't sound like a PSU issue, but all the research I've done shows it could be. But also could be mobo. Do you think I just got a faulty psu/not compatable with my mobo? Or what are your thoughts that could cause this. The thing that gets me, is it is within seconds of being exactly an hour powered on every time.

Yes, actually that was the issue. I never got around to activating it, I didn't think this was the issue because I had the issue on my laptop where I installed the upgrade version on my laptop and it required the actual full version when I had wiped my computer, and it didn't like my SN. But never shut down after an hour. Kinda odd but event viewer had it logged. All fixed now
