Fan controller gives false errors

Hey all,

I have this fan controller, an Aerocool Strike-X X-1000 and it has served me well for the entire time I have owned it. I recently bought a new case (Thermaltake Core v71) and it comes with 3 200mm fans and 1 140mm fan. I have them all hooked up to my fan controller with channels 1, 2 and 3 being the 200mm fans and channel 4 being the 140mm fan. If I turn channel 4 to 100%, the fan spins up and there are no problems whatsoever. However if I turn channel 3 to 100%, the 200mm will spin up no problem, but the fan controller will start a series of 3 beeps, to indicate that the fan in channel 3 isn't working. This is puzzling as I can physically hear and see the 200mm fan spinning without a problem, yet the fan controller kicks up a fuss. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
Could the controller be monitoring fan speeds? 200mm fans spin MUCH slower than 80/92/120/140mm fans and this may show as too low.

I was trying to get some board shots and saw that newegg customers complain about the exact issue with the alarm. If you stop a normal fan(will not hurt it short term) while the controller is running it, does the same alarm go off?

I used this exact same fan controller on my old rig which had 2 fans hooked up to it and there were no problems. Maybe I should've gone into more detail. If channel 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 have a 200mm hooked up to it, it spits out the beep warnings. If channel 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 have anything else hooked up to it, there are no beep warnings.

The 140mm at the back is connected to channel 4 currently. If I stop it, I can hear 4 beeps indicating that there's something wrong with channel 4. You've hit the nail on the head, it's most likely an rpm problem. There's nothing I can really do to fix it, is there?

In my original post it states:

If I turn channel 4 to 100%, the fan spins up and there are no problems whatsoever. However if I turn channel 3 to 100%, the 200mm will spin up no problem, but the fan controller will start a series of 3 beeps, to indicate that the fan in channel 3 isn't working.

I've tried all channels but the 200mm fans spin too slow for the fan controller to deem "working". I may just end up taking out the fan controller.

You may be able to put tape over the speaker, it may make it very quiet.

Now if you are the modding type you can just remove that speaker with a soldering iron or cut the trace to it.

I can not recommend a new user do the last 2 options because if you cut the wrong trace or damage the board, the controller will not work right anymore.

Either option will void any warranty and disable any further warnings(not that fans fail that often).
