Hey Everyone,

I am new to tom's hardware and I have few problems and doubts regarding seagate expansion drive.
I have Seagate Expansion 1 TB USB 3.0, bought a week ago. It copied files just fine till now until suddenly it shows "Local Disk H:"..It shows the same when i tried in two other systems (Windows Vista and Windows 7).
I have tried out the "chkdsk /f H: . ." but it did not seem to correct. When i ran my antivirus, it says 0 files found and scanned.

I don't mind losing the files but if there is way to recover even some of them, I would gladly try.
and I have been told that i should have partitioned my drive before using. so my doubt is, if I format and disk partition my drive now, I will lose my data for sure. but will I be able to recover them? Will the drive be usable after this ? What is my next step..Please suggest!
Thanks in advance :)

Solution
Try using "Find and Mount" program, its freeware. Will mount your drive, so you just need to choose what word it will use (F:,K: or something else) so you can save your files in another drive, then format it, and you are ready to go:)

P.S. Mounting drive takes hours, so dont hurry

Hi there.. I did the normal scan..It showed "no visible partition".. I did not do the disk partition when i bought, is it because of that?
