Does bios help lower temperatures?

Solution
No the only way of reducing temps is better cooling solutions. More case fans, better CPU cooler, making sure case has good air flow and good cable management. Replacing thermal paste with a better product also helps. Also if make sure the CPU is not working to hard by making sure your system is virus and spyware free.

Hi

If a laptop then updating the bios may make a difference to temperature as speed of cpu fan is controlled by bios
But the notes for BIOS update would say this was the case.

Again BIOS setting for desktop motherboard may affect whether BIOS or Windows driver controlls fan speed and maximun temperature of CPU before PC is shut down
