How much of a difference does 50MHz make for gaming?

I am looking to buy a GTX 980, but there are quite a few variants of the card and the only difference (visuals aside) seems to be the Core/Boost Clocks.

Intuitively I want to go for the card that has the biggest clock speed, but how much of a difference does it really make for games (fps wise)?. Assuming we are talking about the latest games, would the 50MHz give a 1-5fps boost, or 5-10 etc?

I understand that you can overclock the card but obviously if you overclock the card with a faster initial clock then the overall result will also be better.

The difference in price is relatively significant, but I'm hoping to know specifically how much (if any) of an advantage does a higher clock speed provide. I heard people say "little" but that is subjective, I would prefer a numerical range of some kind.

Edit: at the moment I am looking at the MSI variant of the 980, however the EVGA SC and EVGA SC ACX have higher clock specs. No idea what would be better cooling wise

50MHz is about 1-2 FPS depending on the game in most games you would see 0 difference. You can overclock the slower card to the same speed or faster.
The only place you would see a difference is if the game was actually using 100% of the card.
