Hello to everyone.

Newbie question from someone who has not built a PC yet. I'm planning to build a new desktop retaining only the CPU and HDD to save some expense. Actually, these are the only 2 components that has no problems, my gpu tanked and my current motherboard is showing signs of decline.

I have an intel 13 2100 cpu (socket 1155 LGA). I am currently using a Foxconn H61MXV-LE motherboard.

Do I need to look for a new board with exact H61 chipset and 1155 socket in order to ensure compatibility? Or any motherboard with 1155 socket will be able to accommodate my processor.

By the way, I'm just a casual gamer though so I feel like I do not need to upgrade the cpu itself.

Thank you very much in advanced.

Solution
You need to find a mobo with 1155 socket, chipset is how fast the mobo is, and what features it has.

But I would suggest going AMD, getting an AM3+ socket with a FX-6350 or FX-8350. Just my 2 cents mate.

Thanks mate. I'll check that one out.

This board also got my attention: MSI B75A-G43 GAMING

It looks decent.
