Basically, when I plug in the mic into my front panel jack, the mic is picking up static and is barely audible (100 volume 30+db) uninstalling the driver helped but according to a friend static is still audible despite the fact he can hear me speaking. The weird thing is, plugging the headset mic into the back panel works properly, but is inconvenient for me as I really don't want to turn my PC around just to use the mic. Any bright ideas on this one? I have tried almost every 'solution' I could find online but to no avail

My mobo is a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 if that helps.

Perhaps, but do you think the front mic jack is broken (OCD is kicking in)? The headphones are working great on the front panel, it's just the mic being a problem.
