r9 270x power supply pcie

I have old psu & I'm going to buy r9 270x. But my psu doesn't have any pcie 8or 6 pin but I have 2 Molex 8 pin connectors... Can I use it for power supply for gpu using adapter..

What PSU do you have? Molex or peripheral is 4 pin!

Yes if the PSU is big enough which is the matter in question! Most likely it does not have enough amperage on the +12volts to run the card.

There should be a sticker like this on the side of your PSU, take a picture of that sticker and post it, that will tell us a lot about your PSU. xTech seems to be a very small or regional brand so i can't find any good info on a 550W xTech PSU

You need to check the sticker on the side of your PSU, it should have a load table on it and tell you how much current you can pull from each rail.

With only 24amps on the +12 volts it would be pushing it for that card.

It may work but more likely it will with the 270 none X which pulls less power.

It is yours to decide, I personally would not put anything more power hungry than the GTX750Ti on it. To run a questionable PSU at max can end in tears when it blows and takes your new expensive GPU with it.

Radeon R9-270X - 24A and a 500W psu minimum , it will work , but i don't think that pushing the PSU to 100% load is a good idea
