My laptop is working very slow

My probook 4530s laptop is working very slow. Its takes lots of time to open the i.e my computer , any drive, any folder & I can not work on microsoft excel & on word or can not play videos because it stucks .When I use the any pendrive & any other external hardisk in that memory laptop working well.I can access the data fastly & play videos fastly.So, I have doubt on my laptop hardisk.
Pls help how to resolve this issue.

System Information:-
i3, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate, 500 GB HDD.

Could be that you have an i3 and low RAM. If you want to try you could get an SSD and no matter what that would make it faster. You would need to reinstall windows on it though.

there are many factors. first, check if you have any viruses/worms/trojans/malware/spyware/adware/and all that nasty stuff by making a full scan with your anti-virus. if thats not the problem then it could be the internal hard drive aging. if that is the case, then make a back up of all your important files and buy a new internal HDD for your laptop. another factor could be that you might have very little space on your hard drive so I suggest you do some deleting of useless data, then do a disk cleanup and a disk defragmentation. also investigate your start up programs. see what runs when your OS starts up and disable the ones you do not need to start.

I doubt that it is the HDD getting too full. Odds are that the drive is self provisioned enough that that wont happen.
