Hello, before 3 days I bought a videocard AMD R9 280X Sapphire Vaport-X, but second hand. After I bough the card I see the fan is broken and I remove them and I put 2 new but they are Cooler Master with 3 pin's. I connect them and after that I put the card on my machine and I test him. But here come the problems, first on FurMark test I start it on low and GPU is overheating after 2-3 sec and switch off the moniter. After that I make one game on Hearthstone and the temperature was 60-65 degrees, but after I start Formula 1 2014 after maybe 45-60sec card going on 85-90 degrees and make artefacts for little maybe 2-3 sec no more I turned it off at the oment. My question is can be die the GPU after this, or he is good ? For the protocol I test the GPU before buy it with original FAN's and on FurMark test on resolution 1280x720 with Anti-aliasing he was 70 degrees non stop and was stable. Can you tell me I are broke the card or he is good. After this case I start the card and he was good she didn't have artifact on monitor.

Sorry for my bad english, and thank you for help :)

Solution

MX-4 should do the job.

Can you send us a picture of the replacement fans?
It sounds like the fans are not moving enough air over the heat sink to cool it. Alternatively the cards clock somehow got messed up and you are running at skyhigh overclocks?

Actually I can't post image on the fans, because my father is take him on his work. I am sure this fans cant cooling this card because I see what happen. The question is are the GPU is Good or is dead, because if he is OK I will buy Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme IV 280x, but if card is broken I will spen one more 110 euro on the wind. Please tell me how to be sure for card are is dead or is a good ?

Its difficult to tell if the card is broken when i can't see if the fans are functioning. It could be a case of the GPU overheating and shutting down/slowing or if that card is permanently damaged and needs to be replaced.

Can you tell me how I can see at home are is broken, because the artifact has seen no more of 1-2 sec and everheating was no more of 3-5 secs. If I start the card and he do not show artifacts are is good, or I must start some test to understand ?

The problem is you cant tell which issue it is because they would have the same result. Are the fans on the GPU spinning? How did you install the new fans? Did you take the heat sink off the GPU and re-place it? if so the thermal paste might not be functioning properly after you re-installed it.

Yes, the fans are spinning, the termal paste was compleatly pushed to the core. I was make some plate and I was hold em hard to aluminium, this is how was fixed the fans on the heatsink.

And this is the fans:

My oppinion for overheat is because this fans is not for here they are not compleatly cooling, but after I remove the GPU from Mobo she was cold.

So did you completely remove the heat sink, exposing the thermal paste? If so did you replace the thermal paste or just not clean off the existing paste?

If you didn't replace it that is why the card is overheating (probably). You need to take off the heatsink, clean both the heat sink and GPU of any thermal paste then apply some new thermal paste.

hmmm intersting, I was sure that I compleatly remove the old paste, but today or tommorow I will try again with new Paste and new Thermal Pad. Did you think the fans are enought to cooling the GPU? After I make this thinks I will tell what is happened.

I trying today, the effect was idle 40 degrees +/- 5 degrees. And gpu do not show artifacts. I start futuremark test and he make 65 degrees +/-2 degrees but in soft test 720p whitout antiallisighn. I think the card is on good health.
