This is my first build. At first I was going to put Windows 8 on it, I got a whole bunch of problems trying to do that, but thats another story. I'm trying to boot up a copy of Ubuntu just to get the thing working so I can brag about it already.

So far I have tried booting into a USB and a DVD, neither have worked, at the moment it says
"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
I press a key with either usb or dvd in and nothing new happens, just that same error message.

Surprisingly I couldn't find anything of help elsewhere. Very sorry if I'm just missing something and asking a stupid question. Thank you for any help you can give.

I loaded the iso image onto the USB and I burned it onto the DVD. Im running a Macbook Pro and just did a restart to see if they came up, they did not.
