I set up a new rig with the ASUS Z87-PRO, which comes with bluetooth.
I installed the bluetooth driver with the included DVD. I attached the antenna piece. There is a bluetooth light that seems to turn on when I am trying to search for a bluetooth device. Eventually the light turns off. No device are ever found. The bluetooth icon appeared on my windows 8.1 taskbar on its own. I also tried downloading the latest bluetooth driver from the ASUS website.
I have a pair of bluetooth headphones which I use with my iPhone, so I know that is not the issue. What else do I have to do to get it working?
