Hey, I finished my first build this past wednesday and since then i've updated the drivers using the discs which came with my parts. I've played several games like vindictus, neverwinter, and runescape. But when i play planetside 2, between 15 - 45 minutes it restarts without warning. I chekc gpu and cpu temps and they both stay very cool. Cpu @ around 45-50c and gpu @ around 43c. I've scoured the internet to find the answer and many people say its the gpu overheating but mine is staying cool it seems. Or they say its a psu problem and if so how can i test this? For the most part i cant find any definite answers on what to do so just wondering if any of you guys can help me? It would be very much appreciated and thanks again! oh yeah, and here's my build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/bamaboy34/saved/2mjnTW

Your PSU is a reliable model, it shouldn't be malfunctioning but there is always a chance.
It is more likely an issue with drivers or the software. Try going online and getting the latest AMD Drivers for your GPU or re-installing PS2. Try running a stress test on the system (Prime 95) which should put load on the PSU and show if that is the issue...

Thanks for the quick reply! So would it be best if i deleted all the previous gpu related drivers and then go online to asus website and download they latest drivers? BTW I ran prime 95 on two different settings for an hour and a half each and nothing happened so i guess that's good? From what i've been seeing i don't think it's the psu, but could it be my RAM? Because it's 1866mhz but when it first installed, it came up as 1600mhz so i changed it back to 1866mhz and it first restarted shortly after that.

Just install the new drivers, no need to delete old ones as long as the new ones are being used. If the issue keeps happening then under lock you ram to 1600. Even thigh it should run at 1866 so I doubt that is the issue. How overclockers is your CPU and did you do it manually or use the oc gene?

So, here's what's up. I redownloaded all the drivers for the mobo and gpu. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled planetside 2. After that, I downloaded speedfan and while I played planetside 2 for two and a half hours with no restarts, I kept my eye on the temps and here's the results: Gpu was running steady at 64c . All of the cores on the cpu were staying between 47c-53c. Then, I left for about 30 mins and ate dinner, came back and was browsing amazon for some cables and i flipped my xbox on and changed the input for about 3 mins and when i flipped back, I had a blue screen with lettering saying there was a software or hardware issue and that i should restart my computer. It did this because I had also switched my settings to not do the error restart but to show the screen. So, now i'm wondering if it could be because I have my xbox plugged into the same outlet? and since I redid the drivers my screen has flickered a few times just occasionally. My cpu is at 3.5 ghz not overclocked. I havent overclocked anything. Thanks for your answers and links btw :D

If you Xbox is plugged into the same wall socket (socket hub) plug it into a separate one. This shouldn't be the issue but it is worth a try.
From what you describe it seems the change of monitor channel causes it, but that makes no sense as nothing is sent back by the monitor to cause this...

Well, it doesnt seem that would be the case but when the xbox is turned on and im using it just to talk in a party while im on my pc, that's causes it to shut off and usually the lights flicker for a second as it restarts. That's why i was guessing maybe the xbox is drawing just enough power from the outlet to short it? Thus restarts the system?

Update* I used the links and erased the old drivers and got only the new drivers and it still does it. I ran furmark and my gpu got up to 78c and stabilized but it didnt restart. none of my games even got it that high. but i played archeage earlier with only my pc on and my lights would flicker and my pc would restart. Would it be the psu or maybe it could be my home power grid as ive been told its not very well wired since it's a 20+ year old house and my room was an addition?

I ran an extension cord from a different room that's on a different circuit. It played fine for about an hour then restarted again. It could be that the area i live has relatively unreliable power. I downloaded Gpu-z and monitored the temps and voltages. They all seemed normal to me, but I've gotten screenshots of before gaming, during, and after the restart. I just have no idea how to post them xD. But also, i read online that i could use an UPS WITH AVR and that may stop sags or dips in power which may be causing my system to restart.

The UPS would keep a constant supply of power to your system as it acts like a battery buffer. If you can afford it I would suggest getting one, even if it doesn't solve this specific problem it could save a component in the future from sudden power loss.

One more thing to try, try clearing your CMOS by removing the round battery on your motherboard for 10 minutes (while the pc is unplugged) then replacing it.

Yeah, that's what i'm looking for because the power in my house is very temperamental and I figure that my system randomly restarting because of a possible power issue could cause some damage over time.

Alright, I will try that right now and get back to you. BTW I tried underclocking the gpu just to see what would happen and it's still restarted in about the same time period as before. Also, I unplugged all power cables and reset them, reset the RAM to the motherboard and the gpu. Still having the same problem.
