How much better is the R9-290 than the R9-280X?

Is the R9-290 worth it and is it truly a big jump from the R9-280X? I prefer the MSI version if it matters.

Depends on the game. Most of the time 10+ fps more at ultra.

Personally, I don't find the jump from r9 280x to r9 290 worth it. You might be better off waiting for r9 300 series or the the gtx 980.
