If an external monitor does NOT have that same problem, I'm afraid it will require repair by the manufacturer because a screen split in to three is definitely a fault, not a switchable feature.

Vaios seem to do this quite frequently in my experience. Reinstall the correct video driver from the Sony site and everything will be back to normal.
