Upgrade from a GTX 770 to 970 worth it?

I understand the 970 is faster but it is a huge jump for the price? or is it better to save for a 980?

I would like personal opinions on this as I have already seen the benchmarks and for the games I play I don't see a major jump as I still get 60fps in my games.

The GM 204 based GTX 970 and 980 are directly aimed at owners of GK 104 based GTX 680s and below. The big GM 200 Maxwell cards will be based on the new 20nm manufacturing process and will be released early in 2015. They are the cards aimed at replacing GTX 7xx series cards.

Your better off buying another 770 and Sli them. I run 2x 770 SC ACX in Sli and I kill the 980GTX by 25-30fps in all games and benchmarks!

Do you have any sources or is it simply a likely course that things will take?

Oh yeah, Nvidia themselves said that as did pretty much every tech review site when the 970 and 980 were released. Just go back and read the initial reviews for the reference 970 and 980s. I'm waiting on the 980 Ti or whatever they are going to call 20nm Maxwell. Hopefully around February so I can pay off Christmas first!
