Hi Tom's Hardware forum! First of all thank you for helping me choose parts before for my $2500 build! My friend is aspiring to be part of the PC community (PCMasterRace) and he has a budget of about ~$1000. He needs it for gaming mostly and also will do some light Photo and Video editing. Any suggestions for the parts? (October 2014) Thanks again!

(Complete Tower, no keyboard , monitor or mouse)

A little over budget but well worth it. Later on when he gets more money he can start adding the small things like an SSD and cpu cooler.
