EVGA GTX 970 fully working with only 1 of 2 6-pin power connectors? How is this possible?

Hey guys,

So I recently took out my GTX 970 and upon re installation i must not have pushed one of the 6 pin power connectors in fully. (I just noticed this). But the thing is I've been gaming all day with my graphics card not plugged in (fully). How is this even possible and has it caused damage? Side note the game i've been playing doesn't push my gpu to full load...only about 20-30% if that matters.

Thanks!

This is what i was thinking. If my research is correct, just the PCI-e port alone provides 75w and then each 6-pin an additional 75w. If the 970 has a max power draw of 150-200 watts under full load. Then yeah. at ~30% it could have been powered by the pci or singular 6-pin. (Im HOPING, I freaked out hard when i saw it unplugged).
