if i was building a pc i use 1866 ram or faster haswell run better on faster ram. most ddr-3 ram in 1866 is the same price as 1600 ram. use a r300 case from cosair..cheap but good. the evo 212 is a great heat sink. most new hard drives are all 7200 rpm now in 3.5 inch drives. for fast boot speeds if you can toss in a 120g os boot ssd. for power supply look at evga or sesonic or a rebraded sesonic or a higher line the the cx power supplys.
look to see if your build funds can use modular power supply.

Use the new gtx 970 that Nvidia launched at ces , handles 1080p like a boss, price around $330, amd cards heat up like crazy so this comes out to be a better option, it's very similar to the gtx980 it's big brother, this gtx 970 is priced good and that gives it a slight edge over the competition, if u can wait for some time the next launches would also be worth waiting (gtx 960),
Not to mention the amd cards are good too(not a fan boy of nvidia), they scale better in crossfire as long as mantle api supports it and if u r thinking of 3 cards for gaming, they probably won't scale properly as the games are not yet optimized. Your might also find some occasional stutter, i would recommend the gtx 970 hands down. If u can get a bargain on some higher end cards that's worth noting u can go that route too.
Have a good day Ashish
