Hey everyone.
I'm afraid i have to give away my terrific system of i5-3570k on an asrock extreme z4 to my girlfriend to use it in fb or something cause the old pentium gave away after years of use. So i'm about to upgrade to an i5-4690k or i7-4790k and was thinking to take some suggestions about Amd cpu's also. I have no idea about what Amd is offering in the price range of an i7-4790k. My pc is only for gaming and i'll put on my Gtx780 for use with 3d vision. Any suggestions?

probably go for intel
amd is offering 8 cores and higher clock frequencies but intel is better
single thread performance of intel is stronger than amd
go for a gtx 970 instead if you are about to buy gtx 780
the 970 is better

If the system is just for gaming, just get the i5, the extra threads aren't that useful the vast majority of the time. AMD doesn't offer anything in the price range of the 4790k because they have nothing to offer in that performance range. For enthusiast builds, AMD is very rarely worth it.

James unfortunately i bought the 780 4 months ago :/
viewtyjoe i agree for the i5 but having the 3570k already i was thinking it will not have big difference then the 4670k, kind of thinking about it still.

yep viewtyjoe is right
i7 wouldn't matter until you are multitasking
or a lot of background tasks are going on while playing
