It depends on the game played too,whether it is more cpu or gpu dependent.
A possibility for overclocking that cpu? Which motherboard?

A good choice for a cpu.Get a decent Z97 motherboard with it and you should be able to reuse your ram.
No feeling for overclocking? Then the "K" series cpu shoudn't be for you and should a i5 4460/4590 be enough.A nice H97 should be a good choice in that case when going for a single gpu build,for sli you'd better use a decent Z97 again.one that supports sli=second pcie slot @x8
