Do I really need motherboard standoffs?

Do I really need motherboard standoffs? I did not initially install them but I booted successfully into my computer. I have played hours of games like the Elder Scrolls Online and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim without any issues. I am nervous about removing the motherboard to install the standoffs when everything is working so well right now.

What Case? some of them have them built in! Indication is if the back I/O shield fit if not you may short your rig on the motherboard tray.

Yes you do need them. 100%.
They exist to keep the back of the motherboard from contacting the metal case. Also, to position the I/O ports in relation to the rectangular hole in the back.

If you've had no issues, that is purely luck. Take it apart and install them. Or risk smoking the whole board.

If your case is meant to use them it's a good idea to have them installed to avoid shortages , that could occur.

I am using the Rosewill Challenger, the manual did suggest putting on the motherboard standoffs. I was foolishly not using the case's manual during the construction of the PC, however.

You need the standoffs, I have that case in one of my builds!

Just the normal ones, unplug PSU from wall, press on button to discharge any stored energy and then be careful to touch metal bits of the case before touching any hardware.
