Hi everyone, I'm having issue with my internet connection since I have it (nearly two months).
Problem: I'm supposed to get near 30 MBps download speed and 10MBps upload speed. The upload is fine, however I'm getting a maximum of 5MBps download speed. Note that I'm the only one running Windows 8 (Windows 8.1 specifically) and all other devices (2 other laptops + phones + consoles) work fine.
Also, I had another problem which was random disconnects of 30sec-1min, but I haven't experienced any since 2 days.
Here's what I did so far:
- Did the test with the two other laptops in different rooms and I'm really the only having the slow connection, so the distance is not the problem;
- Connected directly in the modem and the issue is still there;
- Updated my drivers and BIOs (with Acer support);
- I'm using a wireless connection so ethernet has no weight in this;
- ipconfig /flushdns;
- Adding an entry to the Regedit in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Policies / Microsoft /Windows => Folder created called "Psched" => QWORD 64 Bit entry created "NonBestEffortLimit" => Said entry set to 0;
- Tried forcing IP address and DNS server to a specific one I found on the net; I switched them back to automatic after no results with this;
- I think that's it, but there might be more I tried...
I did restarts on pretty much all the steps.
A Microsoft support agent said it probably isn't a hardware issue so that's why I haven't send the computer back for repair yet. I didn't want to pay 100$ to escalate with Microsoft. Also, there are a bunch of other threads talking about Windows 8 specific internet connection, so I'm asking here first.
Any help is appreciated.
