This is my first Gaming PC Build and I want to make the best of it. I am stuck at the question everyone gets stuck at, AMD or Nvidia. I honestly have no clue what to get. Please help me out. Now, keep in mind, you must be able to backup your reasoning.

Budget on PC: $1000
Current Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xCZNBm

KEEP IN MIND, I WANT THIS TO LAST SEVERAL YEARS AND NOT CRAP OUT ON ME!

Solution
Change that 780 Ti to a 970. You get less power consumption, less heat, and a GB more of VRAM. Plus, the 970 will OC better than most 780 Ti's.

You shouldn't ask just AMD or NVIDIA. You have to compare them on a card-to-card basis. The 290/X are obsolete, but AMD's other, less powerful cards still have good value to them.

I also recommend changing the CX PSU to an EVGA B2 (at least) or preferably an EVGA SuperNova G2. Corsair's CX series isn't very high quality.

If you can spend an extra $50, I would go for something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.96 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO...

Haha, I had just edited the post with a 4690K when you posted. So... +1 :)

Edit: The base total of the build with a 4690K is just $11 more than the AMD build.

Kinda the same questions as here not?

I think with the money that you have you should go for an intel build.Already posted two in that other thread. It in the end depends on what you want and what you want to pay for it.
Both builds are strong, the one with the r9 290 is a little less at the gpu side but it's still a good card. The one with the gtx 970 is somewhat better, but a little over budget.

Again,

With the second could you choose to go for a bit cheaper, but still good case to get closer to your budget. The case from that first build is already $10 cheaper, other choices,
