Hi All,

I'm new to the forum so please excuse my knowledge in this section.

I'm getting a brand new 3D monitor BenQ XL2411Z and I have a GTX 760 Rog striker platinum card on my PC.

I'd like to know if my monitor which is 3D vision 2 enabled, would it work with my graphic card's 3D vision 1 ??

Curious to know as I don't want to buy the 3D vision 2 kit.

To add on this query will the BenQ XL2411z come with IR receiver in built or I'd have to purchase the entire 3D vision kit.

Any response is much appreciated. Thanks!

Solution
The kit is not to make your graphics card "3d vision 2 ready," it's to transmit the 3D signal to the glasses to keep them in sync, since the glasses are active-shutter lenses, they need to be in sync with the monitor refresh rate. It is just a IR receiver that hooks up to the computer via USB and a pair of active shutter glasses.

The BenQ XL2411Z does not come with a built in IR Receiver. So you will have to buy the 3D Vision 2 kit if you want to play games in 3D.

The GTX 760 is not "3D Vision 1", it is "3D Vision ready," It will do 3D Vision 2 just fine. "3D Vision 1" is very old, and all modern NVIDIA GPUs support 3D Vision 2.

Thank you so much for the solution CraigN.... You've covered every point in detail to bring clarity to my confusion :)

So are there any monitors with built in IR's out there ?

Do I have to specifically purchase Nvdia's 3D vision kit or there are 3rd party kits available in the market that I can use ?

Thanks in advance :)

Sorry for the late response.

There are a few by BenQ. I don't know their model #s off the top of my head, but they exist, but are generally much more expensive. (~$400 range)

There are no third-party 3D Vision kits. Nvidia is the only manufacturer. You may be able to find a kit for less than MSRP on ebay, but that's the best I can suggest.
