Is it SAFE to update my bios from 1.30 to 2.10 to 2.20 with a i7 2700k on a ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 motherboard?

I cannot get a clear and definitive answer. ASRock isn't responding to my technical support email either.

The net is littered with contradicting posts indicating that it is NOT safe while on the contrary that it IS safe with horror and success stories to support both indications respectively.

My system runs flawlessly at BIOS version 1.30. However, I purchased new RAM (GSKill Trident X) and need to update my BIOS in order to use it unfortunately. Should I just RMA it for Ripjaws (RAM that works at 1.30) instead of risk updating my BIOS? Or, is it safe to proceed with the update?

Thanks.

When the PC runs fine you don't have to update the BIOS, but you said you need to update the BIOS so that you can use the new RAM. And I think you already to try the RAM, if they didn't work, you either update the BIOS or RMA the memory.
Because when you update the BIOS, if you don't do it right the MB will become unusable. That is why you cannot get a clear and definitive answer. And if you have a friend who knows how to do it, you can ask for help. So if you don't feel comfortable to update then just RMA the memory.
