Hi everyone, so im basically thinking of upgrading my system. But im not sure which to get. 2 gtx 970 sli or AMDs dual gpu r9 295x2.
I love the idea of having the water cooled r9, but don't know if the price is worth it compared to the sli alternative.
Can someone enlighten men on what the differences are and what advantages/disadvantages a Dual gpu like the r9 295 has?
Pricing on both options:
R9 295x2 = 1208$
SLI GTX 970 g1 gaming = 1030$

The titan z is out of the question even though it is sold for around 2000$ here given that maxwell makes the titan z seem stupid..
Furthermore the Titan Z isn't used in most benchmarks anyway

Solution
970 SLI performs better than R9 295X2. I don't see any advantage of r9 295X2 except it takes the space of one GPU while technicality it's 2 GPU.

Wait, those things that manufacturer's make for selling two GPUs in one only take up one PCI-e slot?!

Yeah, basically. Which is nice in some cases. The R9 295x2 at least has some inbuilt watercooling which leads heat out of the case. The Titan Z is just stupid. At least it used to be, but i think they a dumping the price below the current price of 2 titan blacks. 1800$ dollars is the cheapest i've seen so far.
But yeah, it's stupid otherwise.
