I formatted my hdd partition then tried to reinstall operating system(windows xp) i got the message BOOTMGR is missing Press CTR+ALT+DEL to restart and i cannot get out of this loop

Solution
The easiest way to fix this is when the PC first boots, most of them have an option to load a Boot Menu (Normally F12). When the Boot Menu loads, select the DVD drive.
Hi

It looks like you have not managed to boot up off the XP CD

(f you had you would get message to press any key to start setup then see XP setup running and loading a long list of device drivers)

You should have done that first then formatted the hard disk during the install process when asked where to install Windows

Dells usually need F12 to select boot device, others F8 at startup just after switch on

others need going into BIOS to set first boot device is DVD/CD not hard disk

if you give exact make & model someone may give you more precise details on how to get into BIOS

LOL how true is this!!! but in this case it's not an issue. win xp is only a cd and wasn't sold on a dvd.

with that said, is this a geniune xp cd? or is it a burned copy? have seen many burned copies missing the boot files so it is not bootable. obviously a genuine copy will be a bootable disk.

ya I see that xp and need 10 more cups of Coffey for things to sink in today..

also with new motherboards xp may not be supported anymore so I don't know if this can be a issue seeing I never tried to load a windows os that's not listed as a supported os in its specs.????

could this also be an issue with that new uefi (eufi??) bios. it replaces the mbr with something new. perhaps the xp disk is looking for the mbr which is not there anymore. op has no specs listed but it's possible, though i would not understand installing xp to such new hardware.
