I am gonna build a new gaming pc soon and will buy a ASUS Maximus VII Ranger Motherboard. It says it has inbuilt Wifi but what does that mean? will I need a extra network card(wireless network adapter)? if I do need one please suggest one.

Note: I already have Wifi all over my house so wired connections via ethernet cables is not an option.

Thanks to all of those who replied to this post, I have indeed double checked and it said that it doesnt support wifi, and this is my first time building so wish me good luck

You might want to double check on the wireless. None of the reviews that I read on it that board mentioned that the wireless module comes with that model. I know that the Formula comes with WiFi, but don't think that the Ranger does. So it seems that you will need either a wireless PCIe card or USB wireless stick.

it has a network card and wifi card built in. if you are a serious online gamer you are going to want to hardwire it through in the ethernet port for internet

EDIT - oh, and no, you wont need to buy a separate network card

Wired connections should always be an option for gaming. Whether you already have WIFI in your home or not, your latency and gaming will improve with a stable wired connection.

That being said, are you sure this board has built in WIFI?

I can't find it on the spec list and I can't see antennae on the back of the board I/O.

If it comes with built-in WIFI like the ASUS Z97 Deluxe, then it just means it is built directly into the motherboard and there are antennae on the back so you can connect to a WIFI network without a card
